Mongolian yurt

Yurt land offers you a full-range of hand-crafted Mongolian Yurts, from 15 to 120 m².
Produced in Mongolia with ancestral devices, it is made up of 5 types of elements: All the wooden elements are painted in orange, the traditional color and decorated with traditional paintings.
1/ PIECES OF FILTER

Yurt - Filter
There are those for the roof and those for the walls. Note: All our wall-filters are protected by a nylon addition in order to avoid being damaged by water.

2/ A PROTECTIVE TARPAULIN

Yurt - The tarpaulin
Like the filters, the tarpaulin also plays an important role in wet climates.
Made of cotton, tarpaulins aid in of the yurt's waterproofing.

3/ A CANVAS PACKAGE

A/ Outside decorative canvas

Yurt - Outside decorative canvas
It covers the yurt from the roof's borders to the ground.

Our mass-produced model (canvas n°1) is decorated by 2 friezes.
One frieze is located around the circle's borders, the second is found where wall and roof meet.
2 paintings also decorate the roof.

B/ Inside decorative canvas

Yurt - Inside decorative canvas
It is a canvas made of light cotton.
It covers the yurt from the circle's border until the wooden floor.
It is put over the wooden structure, hiding the filter.

C/ Hat

Yurt - Hat
The hat is a canvas envelope in which is sewn a square filter covered by a waterproof canvas.
The hat is decorated with traditional paintings.
On each of the hat's 4 corners are ropes, which surround the yurt.
If it rains, pull on the ropes to shut the hat on the circle.

D/ Yurt's bottom (the skirt)

Yurt's bottom is encircled by a plastic strip, which follows the shape of the circular wooden floor that serves as the foundation of the yurt.
Its purpose is to prevent water from flowing inside.

E/ Roof-cover

Roof-covers are canvases made of light cotton, which is places inside the yurt, between the poles and filters.
It aims to hide the roof-filter and to highlight the poles' painting corolla.

5/ A WOODEN STRUCTURE

A/ The pine French window

Yurt - The pine French window
The door is doubled: the outside shutter is opaque.
The 2 inside shutters are doubled and glazed, enabling sunlight to get in.


B/ Larch circle

Yurt - Circle
It is the yurt-roof, composed of 2 circles (a larger and a smaller)
linked together with transversal rods which cut the circle's area in 8 portions.

Half of the circle is covered by canvas and filters.
The other half lets in the sunlight and the pipe-stoves.
Shutters are set on the other-half.

C/ The 4 shutters

They are glazed wooden frame set on the circle in order to let the sunlight in and to protect the yurt's inside from the rain.

D/ The 2 pine-pillars

Yurt - Pillars
They support the circle and a part of the roof's weight.
They adopt the roof's shape.


E/ Larch poles

Yurt - Poles
Their number depends on the yurt's size.
On one side, the poles come to fit in the circle.
On the other side, they are tied to the wall by a string.


F/ Larch walls

Yurt - Walls
The number of walls depends on the yurt's size.
2 for a 10 m² area, 3 for 15, 4 for 20, 5 for 27, 6 for 35, 8 for 66 m² area...

A wall is a fatigue made of wooden rods which are attached with leather straps (camel nerves), giving flexibility to the whole.
